In external application, lavender oil is massaged into the skin or inhaled. It is considered a means of balancing feelings, brightens the spirit, removes anxiety and balances inner discord. It also acts as a stimulant of the nervous system, restoring vitality and strength. Due to its antiseptic properties, diluted oil is a good skin disinfectant for acne, eczema, wounds, ulcers and inflammatory conditions of the skin. It is particularly effective for burns, as it helps skin regeneration and minimizes the formation of scars. When rubbed on the chest, it strengthens the lungs and accelerates healing in cases of pneumonia, inflammation of the ribs and bleeding in the lungs. In the form of a lotion or bath, lavender acts against swelling, bruises, sprains, "cracks in the bones", casts and rheumatism.
